Reedtail rested calmly. he now off to the side, nearby the apprentices den. he calmly lifted his paw and began to bathe, his tounge soon becoming warm under the constant lick.
suddenly, his deep blue eyes flicked up, catching sight of a bird fluttering off, away from the branches of a tree. he watched it flutter away into the sky, its wings a harmonious beauty, its wings working in perfect beauty and timing with its joints and musels. allowing the bird to fly. how he wished to work like that. have the ability to leave all cares behind and view the world in peace. starclan has it easy, and lucky. they are the skys, the stars. they can do what they want, and are pure good.
the faint padding of paws shook his focus back to the ground. back to earth. his fellow clanmates were going about their duties, departing for the hunting and patroling parties and such. but Reedtail was content at sitting under the shade nearby the apprentices den, waiting for a calling or a friend to come and find his company.

Being named the Deputy wasn't something that he expected....he had expected another. Not him. But then again he still didn't get why he was. However Rosestar's choice was Rosestar's choice, and not his to question. Nor was it any other's to question. If he was to be the one who served under her so be it. He wouldn't complain, though he couldn't brag about it either. He wasn't that way, he didn't want to rub it into other's faces, I have Deputy and what do you have? Nothing. Pads hit the ground, upper frame still, peripheral vision coming into play as orbs skidded from one end to the other of their enclosure. The rocked back and forth, jumping up and down, trying to break free. But nay, there was no escape for them. Nor was there escape for any living thing. Their seeds were sewn where they were meant to be and that was where they had to stay. Although now and then cats crossed clans, headed to the loner or rogues....they still weren't escaping. They would never escape their past for it was imprinted in their heart as well as all the others around them. Skull twisted, pools locking onto the body of Reedtail. A friendly flick of his tail, Tearwing picked up his dance and headed towards the cat. "Greetings friend. Nice day isn't it? "
With a mrrow of laughter the young tom dropped his haunches, tail curling around his paws. Sun reflected off his silvery pelt, soaking into the splotched of ebony. His temperature was off in some places, warmer in some than others. Awaiting the reply of Reedtail through his twin thorns, he allowed them to flicker and swivel to catch the sounds of nature. The breeze thrummed in his ears, carrying the loud chirps of birds off in the forest. The soft gurgle of the river just off the boundaries of the camp. Shivering slightly as the wind ruffled his fur, he turned his skull away for a brief moment to look at the other cats around camp. It wasn't long before he twisted back to look at Reedtail for he didn't want to seem disrespectful.

Rosestar padded stiffly into camp, she had slept outside last night, before she had closed her eyes to sleep she remembered Moonshade, and Reedwhisker. reedwhisker, a cat she could scent right now, she raised her head and glanced at him from where she stood, half in camp, half in the territory. She was dissapointed with the way she had held herself around her warriors last night, her gaze lowered to the ground as she padded solemnly forward, head hanging. Every paw step was an effort, her paw stung as she padded, almost frozen into place. She had fallen asleep with her paw dipped in the water last night, now she could not feel it, never mind manage to slide her claws out. She flopped to her side, it was all she could manage. Bring her numb paw up to her maw she began to smooth her tongue over it. Tearwing was now talking with Reedwhisker, how embarassing it would be, should he mention her performance last night, she was a good actress, but that was not acting, just pure hatred towards Ashstar's last actions.
She really wished that she had not acted like that last night, but it was something that she could not help, even if she tried, the past has been written, she only had the future left to change it. She would not take a turn like that again. She would be strong for her clan, like Ashstar had known she would be when she chose her to be deputy, like she had known Tearwing would be when she chose him to be the next deputy for Riverclan. It may not have been expected by the clan that he would be chosen, yet deep inside her she knew that he was really the right choice for Riverclan.

ooc: sorry, i had a busy last two days.
Reedtail smiled as Tearwing approached. Tearwing rested his bodice, mimicing the position that Reedtail held as well. Reedtail wiped away his sudden thoughts of Moonshade and Rosestar as Tearwing spoke.
"Greetings friend. Nice day isn't it? "
Reedtail glanced around quickly, looking for any other cats listening in. He wanted to ask someone what exactly Ashstar had done to leave and make Rosestar so mad. Oh how the question burned inside him, threatening to drive him crazy. what happened between them? peace was his view on everything, and so he wanted to know the secrets that threatened to uproot that peace inside his own clan. vocals were pushed through the toms larnyx as he began to speak.
"Yes, a very pleasant day indeed. But the shadows of secrets could easily prove this day unpleasant."
Reedtail paused, for another scent had reached his nares. He glanced around and spotted Rosestar laying down on her side and tiredly licking at her paw. He didn't want to be disrespectful. Her feelings were hers, and no cats could mimic them. His quiestion was to be worked out between him and Rosestar alone. Turning back to Tearwing, he spoke again.
"It looks as though Rosestar has arrived... and she looks as horrible as one would look after battle."
He stood, nodding to Tearwing. He didn't want to be rude. Making his way over toward Rosestar, he came around to where her head was facing and paused.
"Are you allright, Rosestar?"
He bowed sligtly at her name. He had been rude to her yesterday, and he intended to reedem himself from it.
sudden images filled his mind of blood and hate. Reedtail closed his eyes, willing the evil thoughts away. But then came the form of two cats, locked in combat. Furry blobs of dark shadows they were nothing in their coats to be seen, and the forest araound them seemed to be on fire. And then one was beaten to the ground, lying down, panting heavily and crying. The other stood above, his firey hazel eyes staring down at the poor, beaten thing. And then he raised his paw and aimed toward the others throat. The cries grew for a moment more, and then cut off. But oh, how they echoed. Across the forest and beyond. The fire in the trees stopped, blown out as if from he cats horrible caturwaul. And then Reedtail turned back to the cat on the ground, dead. He could smell the death and blood on his whiskers, feel the anger and fear of that very moment.Who would bring death to anyone? And then the killer turned, almost staring into Reedtails deep, blue eyes. Dark, hazel eyes staring with both anger and hatred, mistrust and... and love.
panting, he opened his eyes, and found himself standing in the same position as the killer cat with the hazel eyes had stood over the other, holding the image of death in his stance. and he relaxed, sitting down upon the rough floor and droping his slightly raised paw from its hovering place about two inches in the air. he had nothing to say, but hoped Rosestar wasn't too scared of his actions and wouldn't end his place in the clan because of it.

Another night without sleep, another day ticking by. Another minute wasted. Sleepy eyes blinked slowly as she stumbled on towards the voices. Who were they? Serenechaos wanted to sleep, but she just couldn't. The she-cat saw Rosestar, Tearwing and Reedtail ahead, talking. The leader seemed troubled, why was she? Well, other than the obvious. The medicine cat still remembered the morning she and Rosestar, Rosethorn then, had talked. Both were unable to sleep and seemed to have a special connection to each other. She intook a sharp breath, stabbing pain struck her head, and she fell from the exhaustion. C'mon get up, just make it one more day, they you can sleep! Serenechaos encouraged herself, as the pain still throbbed in her skull, her vision swaying back and forth.
She forced herself to go foward and arranged what she thought looked like an attentive face. "Good morning." The tone of her voice was pleasant, almost too pleasant. Someone was sure to notice it. She cringed at herself in disguist, where was the real Serenechaos? Why was she not here? I'm afraid of myself! She wanted to yowl to StarClan and ask them why they decided to do this to her.
I'm not the only one with troubles around here, I need to buck up so I can support those around me! She sternly hissed to herself inwardly. Somehow, she'd make it through. If only it didn't have to be this hard. Paws shuffled as the femcat stepped back, wishing she'd never greeted these cats.

Rosestar's head snapped up to the sound of an approaching cat, Reedtail. She sighed again and the tip of her tail began to twitch lightly, almost as if it was just being blown in the breeze, like the trees. Her claws lightly caressed the dirt below her pads, gently making their make, but if it was even possible to be gentle with claws, she did not know. "Of course I am ok Reedtail, unless I am crying out with pain then I am perfectly fine, thank you." She meowed with a sharp edge to her tone. Deep down she knew that the tom was trying to help her, maybe offering to be a friend to talk to, but that she did not want, she was content sitting on her own. Although there was everything wrong, it was better if she thought over it alone, rather than with another cat. She did not intend to be hurtful, just stern in what she wanted. Her head rose in order to see another cat coming over, Serenechaos, a dear friend to her, and the clan's medicine cat. She calmly dipped her head to the she-cat as she approached. She watched Serenechaos carefully in her actions and let out a rather loud sigh. "Serenechaos." She began in a no arguing voice. "Please go and get some sleep, otherwise I will personally come and sit over you until you are sound asleep" She finished. She could hear the tiniest hint of teasing in her tone, but it was more stern than anything else. What would the clan end up like if the medicine cat was too tired to heal cats? It was her new job to make sure that everything was running smoothly, and if it killed her, she would do it.

She smiled weakly at Rosestar, and listened to her words as she spoke. "I'll be fine Rosestar." She mewed with experation, but with a smile. Rosestar hadn't changed a bit. Serenechaos hoped tonight she'd get a decent rest, and prayed StarClan would be merciful enough to do that at least. The medicince cat noted that she'd need to talk to Rosestar privately later about things. But not right now, when Reedtail was there. She didn't mind if Tearwing was there, since he was deputy. Serenechaos gazed at the river, it looked so peaceful, she wished life could be that was as well.Bluuuuurrrrgg horrible post! D:

"Of course I am ok Reedtail, unless I am crying out with pain then I am perfectly fine, thank you."
Reedtail bit back his tounge. Rosestar's words were sharp and stern, but he understood why she spoke that way. She's the leader.
"Serenechaos. Please go and get some sleep, otherwise I will personally come and sit over you until you are sound asleep."
Reedtail smiled. Friends could always help. Serenechaos was the medicine cat, and so she knew Rosestar batter than he.
"I'll be fine Rosestar."
Reedtail smiled. They both looked exausted, though they didn't show it. His vocals pirced the air as he realized they would probably like some time to themselves and each other.
"Do you need any herbs Serenechaos? I was planing to go hunting, and I could keep a lookout for some along the way."
Reedtail paused, preparing to head out of camp. Waiting for any other words from Serenechaos or Rosestar.

Rosestar eyed the medicine cat from where she stood across from her. Her icy gaze raked her pelt, as if looking for a needle in a hay stack. She did not like it when Serenechaos was like this, nor did she like it when she was like this, they were two she-cats locked in the same world, too proud to admit that they actually were. They were both so similar in many ways, yet both so different in others.
She opened her maw to say something to Reedtail, a light hint to leave maybe, but she didn't have to, he seemed to have picked up on the fact that it would be better if the three cats were alone to discuss clan business. Reedtail was a smart cat, smart enough to know when she had to discuss things with her deputy and medicine cat. She appreciated that, more than she showed right now. She looked after Reedtail, catching his eye, as if to say thanks. She looked away again, and over to Tearwing. "Do join us." She called to her deputy and flicked her snow white tail in his direction.
It would take a lot of getting used to being the clan leader, she wasn't even used to sleeping alone, without the pelt of her clan mates rising and falling, all night long. It would take a lot of getting used to she being the one to tell her deputy what to do, instead of the other way around, she being deputy and getting told what to do. It looked as though her relationship with Serenechaos would stay basically the same, maybe she would show her more respect, but she doubted that would be possible. The two she-cats had always greatly respected each other and gotten along well. Anny cat could see that they were close.
Rosestar turned back to Serenechaos. "Do try and get a good sleep tonight, if any cat falls ill, well then that will just seriously send that plan out the forest." She meowed. She let out a sigh. "It is just so strange being leader, hey wait, doesn't that mean you have to do what I say and go to sleep?" She teased.
She did not feel as though it was her place to order anyone around, or rather make decisions for them. She had a good judgment and easily trusted it, but would she allow others to trust it to? It was always different when you were deciding for a clan, and not just yourself. She already felt as if every move she made would effect everyone around her, as if she was walking across a lake of leaf thin ice.

Dewstream trotted into the Riverclan camp, his eyes glowing with profound satisfaction. He had caught two mice, and one sparrow. He dropped them in the fresh-kill pile, his head held high, his eyes looking crystal clear, the green specks in them utterly defined. His paws reached high off the ground, in a joyful manner, and he looked around, his eyes getting, if even possible, the slightest bit more brighter, when he spotted a few other cats around the camp. His pace increased, as he neared the group. "Good morning, isn't it?" the tom exclaimed happily, his ears pricked, his eyes wide with joy. "How are you all, today?" he asked, calming down. If only he didn't act this way whenever he saw a cat he knew. He chuckled to himself, scolding himself inwardly.
He sighed, sitting down, wrapping his striped tail around his two white front paws. They looked like socks. As he looked down at his two paws, his whiskers twitched with amusement. He always found random ways to entertain himself. He looked up, locking eyes with each cat in the group. His eyes were a little less wide, as the tom calmed down. He probably had intimidated the cats' in the group, looking so bubbly, over-excited and happy, but, that was who he was, how he was raised. He was never really a timid cat, but always was gentle and kind. Although, he did occasionally get a tad bit over excited when seeing a cat. Only sometimes, though.
He blinked, a cool wind ruffling his soft pelt. Ah, the time where the leaves changed, was coming soon. He dreaded the coming of the snow. Although he did like the feeling of his thick winter pelt, he felt warmer, just thinking about it. He could just imagine shuffling through the snow, the prey hiding. Yes, that time of the year was a challenge, but, he was always up for a challenge, always looked forward to a challenge. He shook his head inwardly, letting his thoughts wander to other areas of his mind, as he focused back into the real world. Now was not a time to think of the future, but to think of the present. He chuckled again, wondering if he was intimidating the Riverclan cats again, his mind wandering, moving to unimportant things. Wait, no, they were important, they just weren't important right now, they would become more important as the moons surged forward.

"Hey Dewstream!" Fieldstep trotted up, unintimidated.
"How's it going? Hey, have a rabbit from the fresh-kill. I caught 'em myself, dug up their hole..."
He finally trailed off to give Dewstream a chance to reply.

"Hello, Fieldstep!" the tom exclaimed happily, his eyes roaming the camp, and finally resting on the fresh-kill pile. There he saw a rabbit, and his eyes began to sparkle. "I can see that you caught a rabbit, and a mighty large one, at that!" the tom purred. He smiled. "Everything is going fine, by the way," the tom noted, wiping a paw over his maw, cleaning of a smudge of dirt that had rested itself above his pink nose.
"How is everything with you?" he asked, kneading his two front white paws into the soft ground. He blinked, coming out of his little trance of thought, the world become sharp, crisp, clear, and focused again. His ears were pricked, and his tail was flicking back and forth slightly, waiting for the reply from the tom. xx;; ooc;; I love the name Fieldstep, by the way, so unique.

Reedtail had siad nothign in this time, wondering to himself how much privacy Rosestar and and Sereneshaos wanted at the moment. Both were a little more than moody at the time. Perhaps I should herd myself, Fieldstep and Dewstream away... His inanimate features burst to life as the black tom stood, happy to finally be doing something again.
"Hey, want to go patrolling now? I havn't been out all day."
Reedtail was of course, talking to Dewstream and Fieldstep, but he supposed any of the cats in the small group would be welcome to come along. Rosestar needed her spsce, and hopefully Reedtail was assisting that by offering himself and at least one of the others to leave.

Dewstream's eyes sparkled at the excitement of going on a patrol.
"Sure! I'd absolutely, positively, love to!"
"Oh, I..well..I suppose I...I..are you sure you'd like me to?"
"Yes, that would be a pleasure," the tom meowed, smiling brightly, kneading the ground in anticipation. He turned his green/gray gaze onto Fieldstep.
