Rosestar suppressed a sigh. The clan would be wondering who the new deputy would be, and she had chosen. She knew it was the right choice to make. However, it was the second stop to moving on, after accepting that Ashstar was really gone. She gulped in an attempt to push down the great lump that was stuck in her throat yet it would not budge. Her heart was thudding in her chest and she poked her head out of the entrance to her den and looked to the skies. She hoped Ashstar was watching now, and she hoped that Ashstar would approve of her decision.
She pushed out of her den and stood in the clearing below the high rock, her legs shivered nervously, she had to get a hold of herself before she could hold a clan meeting. The Riverclan cats would want to see a strong leader, and not one who was shaking all over. She began to take deep breaths to calm herself down. This was the clan she knew and loved, the one she had grown up in, this was Riverclan, and it was now hers. Would she want her clan to spiral into a hurricane of despair? No she wouldn't. Would she let her clan spiral into this hurricane? No. She would want her clan to be strong through this, and it was up to her to make them strong.
Taking a deep breath she gathered her haunches and sprang to the High Rock. She took another deep breath before turning to look out over her clan, this was the first time she had stood here as leader. It was a special moment, yet sad all the same. She then turned to face the camp, she hadn't expected to get such a good view, it looked small from up here. Her ice blue eyes softened and filled with hope and sadness at the same time. She lifted her head up and yowled a set of familiar yet new words.
"May all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here beneath the High Rock for a Clan meeting."

moonshade came bounding toward her leaders voice. all that passed through her mind was 'please please please please.' she knew who it would be though. Tearwing was obviously fit for the position. moonshade sat, noticing(sp?) that she was the first to answer her leader's call.
It was a breezy night. The moon was almost at it's highest. moonshade's black fur turned to shadow, her white fur shining. her chrystal blue eyes solem. this wouldnt have to happen if ashstar hadnt..... no, moonshade would not think thoughts so sad. moonshade had to fight herself not to cry. Moonshade stared at the stars. Ashstar was there now. Watching over us.

Rosestar's voice echoed across the whole camp as Serenechaos finished mixing a few poultices just in case of any injuries. She always liked to be prepared. Serenechaos stepped out of her den and noticed only Moonshade sitting under Rosestar's gaze. Serenechaos sat next to Moonshade and nodded politely. Her skull swiveled up to Rosestar, her leader's eyes were filled with sorrow and happiness. Serenechaos smiled encouragingly and kept her gaze locked with Rosestar's.
Waiting for more cats to arrive, Serenechaos thought about everything her Clan had been through, sorrow, happiness, so many emotions. Though somehow they all managed to make it out ok. Though some were still recovering from the death of Ashstar, including she though Serenechaos never showed it.
Ashstar, one of the best leaders RiverClan ever had. Loyal, caring, fiece, everything RiverClan needed. But the medicine cat knew Rosestar would be a great leader as well. How? Simple, Ashstar had chosen her as deputy. Serenechaos returned her attention to her Clan and their problems with a sigh.

He wasn't sure he accepted that fact that Ashstar was gone, but then again what cat wanted to accept that their leader was gone? The answer was plain and simple, and one that he hoped all cats would say. None. No cat could say they were happy that their leader had died off and the Deputy had taken over. But alas he could not say that he wasn't happy for Rosestar. Riverclan would stay strong under her command, and if Ashstar had chosen her, than she must be able to handle the position. And now, it was time to choose a Deputy. He couldn't help but feel some sort of sympathy for her. A leader for so short of time and already a ceremony to perform. However as a leader she was supposed to be able to deal with that, not that leader's didn't have stress and the worries like other cats didn't. There wasn't much difference between the normal cats of the clan and the leader, deputy, and medicine cat. They just had little add ons, just a little more power. Tearwing quite liked his life as a warrior but what he wouldn't give for the spot of Deputy. Blinking his eyes as the morning sun entered the warrior's den and cleared away his clouded thoughts, his rose. Giving a quick stretch, he felt his muscles extend and snap back as a rubber band might. Making a mental note to go on a few extra hunting patrols, he made his way to the outside of the den, dropping his haunches and giving a yawn as his kissers opened and closed. He wasn't in the mood to be up at this time of day, in fact it felt like it was a day to stay all by himself in the den. Not that he could get away with that, he had to provide for the clan or at least give a half hearted attempt. But half hearted attempts were for the losers of his clan, he wanted nothing more than to give 150% to his clan and Rosestar. As the day moved on, he wasn't called to any duty...and soon Starclan was showing itself and glowering brilliantly. Twitching his auds as he heard the call of his leader, he pushed his body upward. Stilts stretched he quickly danced his way over to the High Rock. He hadn't moved all day and now his muscles were hating him for it. He had been a rock himself all day, not having anything to do as the busty camp life surrounded him. Settling down beside the two she-cats he gave a friendly purr before looking up to Rosestar.

Moonpaw's eyes snapped open at his leader's call. His chocolate orbs were still sticky with sleep as he yawned and stretched, reveling his well developed muscles. It was dark out, and he guessed that the sunset patrol had found something and that Ashstar was to announce it- until he remembered that Rosestar was leader now. He sighed, forcing himself not to think of the brave leader. He yawned again and forced his weary paws grumpily out of the soft comforting moss of his nest and into the warm, clear air of the night. StarClan was assembling themself in the sky, popping in one by one. He felt comforted that Ashstar was watching Rosestar and helping quide her pawsteps to choose the appropriate cat. -----*----- Nightowl was returning from her sunset walk when she heard the leaders call. Quickly bounding over, she realized that it was time to appoint a new deputy. Nightowl was naive to who would be the deputy. Instead she entered the clearing and sat down, watching Rosestar curiously. She knew that it would not be her and she was glad of it. Sorting out patrols, leading, playing an important part... She wouldn't have been able to do it. She prefered to be easy going and laid back. The first warriors of StarClan entered the sky. Nightowl sent a quick prayer to StarClan that they would approve of her choice, though she knew that they would, for Ashstar couldn't have chosen a better deputy. -----*----- Violetstream rushed from her den as she heard Rosestar's call. She was full of energy today, and she still hadn't gotten it out of her system. She padded over towards Nightowl, who seemed to be daydreaming again, and sat beside her. What'd'ya reckon it's about? Violetstream whispered. Is she appointing the deputy? Nightowl responded, but all Violetstream caught was a hurried nod. Violetstream hoped that it was her, but she knew that it wouldn't be. No, Violetstream just wasn't suited for power. She hated making desicions that could cost her Clan's life or reputation, and she would be terrified of it. No, she knew who it would be. Kestrelwing batted open her sleepy eyes when she heard her leader's call. She rose from her nest, and stretched her tired legs. Kestrelwing elegantly trotted over and took a seat in front of the high rock. She meowed a greeting to Nightowl, who had been sitting next to her. "Greetings, Nightowl." She purred. Kestrelwing looked up to her new leader, Rosestar. Then, looking back down to the ground, she closed her eyes and said a silent prayer to Starclan. Please approve of Rosestar's choice. [/i] She begged. Kestrelwing opened her eyes, and looked up to the sky. She saw the faint shape of Ashstar's face, in the clouds. Watching over the clan.[/blockquote][/size]

Rosestar smiled wearily, it would be all over soon and she would have her new deputy to depend on soon, she knew who it would be, she had decided and it was time to announce it to the clan. She looked to the sky for a moment sending her own silent prayer to Starclan. The wind caught her glittering white fur in answer to her silent prayer, they were there and they were watching. She looked across out over her gathered clan and hope filled her eyes. They would make it through these hard times one way or another.
"The time has come for Riverclan to recieve a new deputy. I, Rosestar, Leader of Riverclan, have thought long and hard about my choice."
She spoke the words with true meaning and hope, she was being strong for her clan. She was being strong for herself. Somewhere deep inside her she knew that everything was going to be ok, and everything was going to work out for Riverclan.
"I say these words before StarClan, that the spirits of our ancestors may hear and approve my choice. The warrior I have chosen is true and loyal, and I know he will protect and serve our clan well. Riverclan's new deputy will be Tearwing."
As she spoke his name her gaze adjusted to rest on Tearwing, the new Riverclan deputy. She looked at him with a new light, with hope. She would no longer be alone to lead Riverclan, she would have Tearwing to help her. She would not doubt his loyalty to his clan for one spare second, and knew that she had made the right choice for Riverclan. Of course there had been many other brilliant choices for deputy, but out of all the cats he had stood out more, as a tom who would protect Riverclan to the end.
"Congratulations, Tearwing. "

There were other cats he would of chosen, though of course let's not be modest....Tearwing did think of himself ready to be Deputy of Riverclan. Every cat in one point of their life thought of themselves highly. This time it wasn't just thinking he would be doing, he would actually be achieving and succeeding. Watching Rosestar intently with his faded jade pools, he felt as if everybody was watching him. It wasn't a feeling he liked, to be watched. To much pressure...oh too much pressure. It was bringing him back to his brother's death all over again. It was his fault, completely his fault. No! He couldn't blame himself, not like this. Though he could. But that wasn't what he wanted. He was doing good so far, no emotional changes and big depression outbreaks. He couldn't let that control go to waste, not after he had worked so hard to maintain it. And then it was gone, with the announcement of the new Deputy. It was him. He had succeeded, he wasn't a failure after all. He had been loyal and true to his clan like he should always be and now it had finally paid off. Looking around with a soft half smile upon his face he nodded his skull lightly at the congrats from his leader. That was when his gaze landed upon Nightowl, and he tore it from her. Not willing to let his eyes rest on any particular cat for too long.

Nightowl glanced up, not surprised that he had gotten the position. As she glanced up, she saw him looking at her, and she looked away, twitching her whiskers. She felt the tips of her ears grow hot, but she congratulated him anyway.. Congratualtions, Tearwing! She called out towards him, her ears still warm.

Watchful eyes carefully noticed each cat that emerged into the clearing, first Tearwing, he settled down next to the medicine cat as well as Moonshade. "Good morning." Serenechaos offered the friendly words back to him. Tearwing seemed ideal for the deputy of RiverClan, loyal, strong, all the right features. Though, nobody could doubt the undying flame of loyalty that burned in the heart of every RiverClan cat. Serenechaos felt a slight sense of pity for those who wished for the position of deputy, mostly Moonshade. She was a great warrior, just not ready for a deputy position quite yet.
The sleepy Moonpaw emerged next, Serenechaos flashed a warm smile at him. She appreciated Moonpaw, he always went the extra mile for his Clan, for her. Nightowl, Violetstream, and finally Kestralwing. They were all present now. Finally, the moment everyone was waiting for, Rosestar would annouce the next deputy of RiverClan. Anticipation crackled in the air, building up until, Riverclan's new deputy will be Tearwing. Serenechaos noticed a new sparkle of hope in Rosestar's eyes, and her voice held no regret or indecision at all.
Serenechaos turned her gaze to the side, and saw the tom's gaze travel around, resting on each feline in turn. He was congradulated by quite a few cats, and Serenechaos waited until the silence before she spoke. "Congrats, Tearwing. You deserve it." She smiled warmly, then turned a bit more serious. "The Clan is in your paws. Shape the desiny of RiverClan well. Help those who need it, help the individuals." Serenechaos stressed the word, individuals, hoping the tom would know his leader would sometimes need support, so would many others. She offered him something useful, advice. Whether he'd listen to it or not was his choice.

Silverbell Don't judge a book by it's cover
The she-cat had vaugley heard Ashstar's call from the Highrock, but she had been very tired. After a prolonged stretch and a yawn, she sleepily got to her paws and padded out of the Warrior's Den and into the cool night. She wasn't walking very fast; she was drowsy and her paws ached. But she also didn't want to insult her leader by looking like a mouse dangling from a warrior's jaw, so she looked up at her leader. Though Silverbell had planned on blinking respectfully, she was suddendly shocked fully awake. Ashstar was dead. It was now Rosestar who led the clan. And she was probably appointing a new deputy. Sadness clouded her eyes, but her dragging pace picked up to a trot, as she realized that she was probably the last cat to enter the clearing and not a moment too soon. No sooner had she sat down next to Nightowl than had Rosestar started speaking once more. "The time has come for Riverclan to recieve a new deputy. I, Rosestar, Leader of Riverclan, have thought long and hard about my choice. I say these words before StarClan, that the spirits of our ancestors may hear and approve my choice. The warrior I have chosen is true and loyal, and I know he will protect and serve our clan well. Riverclan's new deputy will be Tearwing. Congratulations, Tearwing." Silverbell immediatley got to her paws and piped in with the congratulations quickly, smiling at Tearwing as she tried to yowl above the rising noise level. She met his eyes with the affection that she usually showed for all cats, but a certain respect glowing in her eyes as she said That's so great for you, Tearwing! I know you are perfect for the job. Good luck! She made her way over to him and, as she passed, tapped him on his shoulder with her tail. She was excited, but she wanted to talk to Rosestar. Poor Rosestar must be in a lot of pain and happiness at the same time, much like the rest of the clan. She hadn't seen where Rosestar went, but Silverbell presumed that she was in her den- the Leader's Den. Silverbell remembered when Rosestar had slept in the warrior's den, and Ashstar was around. That was probably what was on Rosestar's mind as well. And it always made a cat feel better if they talked about their feelings. Silverbell hesitated at the entrence- she was a little unsure about how talking to Rosestar would go, what with them both feeling sadness at the meaning of tonight. All the same, she knew this would make them both feel better. Taking a deep breath, she softly mewed Rosestar? Silverbell's tail twitched nervously as she waited Rosestar's answer. She couldn't remember there ever being a time when she'd had to ask permission to speak to Rosestar...

Rosestar looked up from where she lay in her den. What now? Could she not get a moment of peace? Even after having to appoint a new deputy by the warrior code? She suppressed a long sigh and her ice blue eyes caught the moonlight. She took a moment to hersefl before replying. "Come in." She meowed, hiding the pain in her voice. She wanted to curl up and sleep for what felt like forever. What could a cat possibly want at this time? Was she the only one who wanted to sleep? It wasn't as if they should hold a party over a new deputy being named, yes it was happy and sad at the same time, but it wasn't that big. She pulled herself up into a sitting position and wrapped her tail neatly around her paws. This den still did not seem to belong to her, it was so weird and off putting. She had so many strange mixed feelings about Ashstar held inside, she knew she was officially dead, when she had been given her last life by Ashstar. She just wished that her clan would let her hide for a while, but she was now the leader, and she had to be there for her clan, whenever they needed her, and she would be. Or she hoped she could be. Once she got over all that had happened, and she was her old self again she would be, Riverclan would be stronger than ever and everything would work itself out. Or so she hoped it would. She knew Ashstar would not have cohsen her as deputy unless she had faith that she could lead a clan, she felt pressure to be more than she really was because of this, but deep down was her true leadership skills, waiting to be discovered.

Silverbell Don't judge a book by it's cover Silverbell's pelt stood on end with nervousness. Would her new leader answer her? Was she already asleep? Or did she not want to talk? Just as she was about to walk away, she heard Rosestar's voice. Come in, Rosestar meowed. So, after a moment of furiously grooming heself, trying to make her fur lie flat, she took a deep breath and padded into the Leader's Den. Her paws bareley touched the ground, which she considered to be almost as sacred as the Moonstone, were she ever to touch it, and she entered the den. As she passed through some moonlight, she seemed to be nothing but two sapphire eyes floating in the air; her pelt was the color of the light itself. Silverbell stopped by the doorway, not wanting to intrude, and sat down, curling her tail around her front paws. At first she let her head hang down, but then she lifted it, trying her best to act like she normally did around Rosestar. After clearing her throat, which was suddendly dry, Silverbell's innocent, young voice floated from her mouth. Hi, Rosestar, she started. Um, I know you're probably tired, but... Do you want to talk? Silverbell's eyes glowed with concern for her new leader, and she swallowed dryly. She wasn't trying to be nosy or trying to start a gossip, no. She was meerely concerned for her leader. Silverbell herself missed Ashstar dearly, though she knew there was nothing that she could do about her death. And, looking at Rosestar, she did too. Silverbell could just tell. Rosestar's eyes were tired. Taken aback by her sudden relization, she fumbled around for words. Oh! But, um, if you're tired, you know, you can go to sleep and I'll leave, she mewed awkwardly. She glanced down and pretended to study the patterns of clawmarks and places where paws had tread so often that there were marks in the ground. But her ears were pointed toword Rosestar, patiently waiting for her answer. Silverbell gave her chest a quick lick or two and looked up at Rosestar again, her gaze cautious, her eyes sympathetic. The moonlight coming through the rocks sparkled on her paws, nose, and in her eyes, though the rest of her was in a gray shadow. Silverbell's tail tip twitched nervously as she awaited her leader's answer.

Yeah this is kinda old so I will just tie it up here.
Rosestar watched Silverbell with kind eyes, it was true she was tired and would rather sleep, but the she-cat only meant her well. "Oh Silverbell, I am sure I will be fine, Ashstar was a great leader, and it was not time for his passing, but she will be with Starclan now, and she will be watching over us." Rosestar meowed softly to Silverbell. It was now her turn to step up and be leader, that had been why she was deputy in the first place. She would take this seriously, Riverclan would be as strong and ever and Ashstar would be honored for her work in the past. "But if you need to talk things through you can always come and see me another time." Rosestar meowed and dipped her head to the she-cat, before curcling a few times and curling up in a bed of moss. What a day. Her tummy grumbled but she ignored it and closed her eyes tight. Everything would get better, it couldn't get worse after all. She let a very soft sigh escape her maw as it curled up slightly at the corners. Yes, it would be perfectly ok, she was in charge, she had Tearwing to help, and even Serenechaos.
