]"Maybe if my heart stops beating it wont hurt this much and never will I have to answer again to anyone"
[/blockquote] Silence. Cleargaze was frozen to the spot, the musky scent of prey filling her nose. Her mouth watered and her ears twitched, scanning the area for the scratching and scurrying noises of a vole or mouse. Instead, she heard a couple of thuds on the forest floor. Rabbit! Cleargaze stretched her nose to the ground smelling the forest floor. She smelled dirt, pine needles, and possibly a stick. Slowly outstretching a paw she felt a twig under her paw. Careful not to snap it, she stepped over it and crouched into a hunter's crouch, belly fur almost touching the ground. She silently stalked the rabbit until she was a mere few feet away from the long-eared creature. Suddenly, a leaf crunched under Cleargaze's paw. The rabbit turned and began it's escape, white tail flashing.
No longer worried about scaring the rabbit, Cleargaze bounded after the rabbit jaws parted to keep it's trail. The young rabbit fled into a abandoned badger set. Cleargaze slowed a bit, trying to find the rabbit's scent. She followed into the set. She felt a pang of happiness as she realized she had the rabbit cornered in the set. Cleargaze stopped again, using her ears. She heard the rabbit's shallow, fearful breathing coming from the left part of the den. With her paws, she felt the rabbit quivering, but it wasn't moving. She froze herself for a moment, then leaped in the direction of the rabbit. She felt her sharp claws sink into the wriggling rabbit's flesh. She bit into it's neck, shaking it. Once she heard it's neck snap, she knew the rabbit was dead. Thanking StarClan for it's life, she carried out of the set and shoved dirt over it.
She decided to search for a tad more prey. She padded along the soft dirt of the forest, nose working hard, searching for the familiar scent of prey. As she neared the Windclan border, she breathed in deeply. She smelled the brisk, moorland air. She liked it. Thoughts of what it would have been like if she had been found by cats of WindClan filled her brain. She shook her head, clearing her mind. She knew she had to be loyal to her Clan. Sitting as still as she had, she hadn't realized that a vole had scurried out of a bush and was foraging two tail-lengths away. Cleargaze froze as she heard it scrabble the earth. Dropping into a hunters crouch she used her ears and paws to locate the vole. She heard it freeze as it heard her she outstretched a paw and whacked at the vole with claws unsheathed. Again, she thanked StarClan for it's life. She carried the vole and back-tracked to find the rabbit and took that too back to camp.

"I am nothing now, and it's been so long, since I heard a sound, the sound of my only hope, this time I'll be listening'' Stopping, Cleargaze scented the air. She was sure she scented cat closeby. Parting her jaws, she realized it was Thunderclan. Still, she didn't like the idea that she was being followed. She padded more quickly to the camp, and pushed through the entrance, mouth full with sweet smelling prey. Dropping it on the pile, she sat down, grooming herself. She listened to the souds around her. She could hear kits playing, and could feel excitement pulsing out of their tiny bodies. The foul stench of mouse bile filled her nostrils. The apprentices were probobly treating the elders for ticks. She thought back to those hard days. Always trying to prove to the others she was fit to be a warrior, even though she was blind. She shook herself, trying to rid her mind of the thoughts. Those days were over.
Her growling stomach interuppted her thinking spree. Giving her chest fur a few final licks, she got to her paws, and stepped over to the fresh kill pile. She grasped a starling between her jaws, and walked to the opposite part of camp. She settled herself on the soft earth, and took a bite out of the bird. Chewing, she listened to the soft chattering of the other clan cats. She heard the happy purrs of she-cats and their mates. Cleargaze's heart ached with a longing for love like that. But no one in her clan seemed drawn to her, and she didn't have extra intrest in any of them either. She gave a heavy sigh, and rested her head on her paws. She was no longer hungry for the starling. She nudged it away with her nose. After a few moments, she stopped wallowing in her own sadness, and picked up the bird. She padded into the nursery with it, and offered the rest of it to the older kits. They accepted it with gratitude, even if it was half eaten.

"Maybe if my heart stops beating, this won't hurt this much" Sleep just wouldn't come to Cleargaze that night. She begged her mind to settle, but it kept her head a buzz. The gray figure, black in the night, rose to her paws, and, careful not to step on any cat, she made her way out of the warrior's den. She trotted out the entrance, her pelt brushing brambles and leaves. Immeadiatly, the scent of nocturnal prey filled her nose. But she wasn't hungry, and the fresh kill pile was overflowing with prey. This time, she came to sort her mind out. To think. She padded through Thunderclan territory, using her other senses to guide her. Soon, the scent of Thunderclan began to mingle with a new smell. The smell of Windclan. It tingled her nostrils. Bringing her nose to the ground, she searched for the border, careful not to cross it. Finding it she stepped back and stopped, sitting down. She could smell the cool night breeze blowing across the moorland, and the sweet smell of Windclan. She wondered if any other cats felt the same way. If any other cat came here to think. She didn't think so. Dropping down into laying position, she rested her head on her dainty from paws, and drifted into the sleep she had earlier awaited.
Like in all her dreams, she could see. There she was sitting, facing towards a stump, where four cats were sitting. It was the leaders of the four clans. Looking around, and seeing the full moon and many other cats from mixed clans, she realized she must be at a gathering. The leader's spoke, but Cleargaze was too absorbed in the moment to listen. She was examining each cat, cats from all clans. It was not often that she got to see what they looked like. Gazing across the clearing, skimming over the turned Windclan heads, she came to one. A dark cat, whose head aws not turned towards the leaders. His blue eyes drove into her skull. She tried to pull her gaze away, but she could not stop staring. His eyes illuminated the dark night. Cleargaze felt a tingle in her heart. She had to meet this cat! Standing up, she slunk around the back of the cats, trying to make her way to the cat. But when she looked for him again, he was not there. No where to be found.
She awoke with a start. Blinking, she felt slight warmth on her side, and knew she must get back to camp. The sun was coming up. As she ran back through the woods, she thought about the dream. This black cat was strange, but Cleargaze felt drawn to him. She had to find him. Thats it! The gathering! She needed to go to the next gathering. There she would meet him. She dashed into camp, and scurried over to the fresh kill pile, her tummy rumbling from her late night escapade.
