.x.L I L Y W H I S K E R.x. && The SILENCE is growing
The abandond twoleg nest sat in the eerie afternoon silence, the only sound being an occasional call of a mockingbird to its brood. Cracked windows decorated the skeleton, a couple of rats noisely making there way to and from the house, which that had made a comfy home in. The door was thrown open, and if you peered inside the majority that you would see would be cobwebs, and overly dusty furniture forgotten by the twolegs who had owned the home previously.
The garden that had been so very well taken care of was now a jungle, overgrown with weeds that had choked the life out of the tame plants that were used to being so carefree. Not worrying about any threats that may halt the process of the fruits and vegatables that grew on them. The nest of the noisey mockingbird perched underneath the side of the rooftop, its calls carefree, as it swooped down to the nest, feeding its helpless young chicks that it had taken off to find food for only a short while ago.
Deep within the confines of the woods near the house a set of emerald eyes gleamed, the gaze glued to the nest in front of it. Moving into the open the tortishell became visable and stretching Lilywhisker flexed the muscles beneath her pelt. Keeping quiet her claws raked against the soft earth beneath her paws, letting the cool sand cause her paws to tingle, noticing the dirt that began to gather on her clean white socks however she turned around, heading back into the forest.
In the bracken she stopped in her tracks at the sound of twigs snapping. Instantly she dropped to a hunting crouch, ears swivleing to attempt to pinpoint the position of the animal that grazed near the bush. Opening her mouth very slightly she recognized the scent of squirrel and closed it so that there was no chance that saliva would form and drip onto the earth, giving her away.
Waiting only a few more seconds she carefully crept forward, until the animal was in sight. Quickly she lept forward the creature giving a yelp as her claws closed expertly around its body, Sharp teeth grabbing hold of the thick neck, her grip tightened until she felt it go limp beneath her strong grip. Letting go she grinned at her kill then closed her eyes, blessing Starclan for it then began digging a shallow hole. When finished she dragged the squirrel in it then kicked the sandy earth over it in only a few motions.
Finished with that she made her way back over to the clearing where the twolegs house loomed. Emerald gaze glued to it, eyes focusing on every inch of the large thing that had been placed before her. Still safe in the woods she felt no fear toward the threat that so many others were scared of, of which so many horror stories had been told to kits during and before her time of life on this place. Stepping forward, and out of the safety of the bushes her distinct peltage gleamed underneath the sunlight, warming her up completly as she halted, slightly disturbed as a large rat raced out of the corner of the nest its yellow eyes glowing with a disturbing look to them. Lilywhisker shivered then took another step her head craned to the side in deep thought, although she couldn't really understand why, it was just one of those things of life that you sometimes couldn't explain.

Dappled sunlight cast its streaking patterns across the striped tom's grey and ginger-splashed pelt. His pale blue eyes searched through the brush for any signs of prey, and as he raised his head and parted his jaws to scent the air, something else caught his attention. The scent of blood. It sent chills up his spine and caused him to lick his lips as he pictured the prey he knew a Clanmate had caught. Hunting patrols... you learn to loathe them. He thought to himself, clawing at the earth as he fought his hunger. The Clan must come first. He padded slowly forwards, angling his ears forward as he listened for the cat who lingered here, near the Twoleg nests. The tomcat did not fear this place as some did. He feared nothing really, it was a waste of time. He heard the claws of rats scratching across the broken floor of the nest, and his tail flicked as he gazed coolly at the large stone structure. It's like many trees fallen on top of each other. The Twolegs have such fascinating minds, to be able to make such things. He thought. At one time he had idolized Twolegs, imagining in what ways they made their nests and why they behaved in certain ways. Eventually he became less interested though. Now he was barely interested in anything. Ever since that day... Wolfhowl's eyes clouded as he stared up into the sky. Moonpaw... He thought. A chill wind crept up from behind him, ruffling his fur and sending his scent into the nest. He flexed his claws and braced his shoulders against the breeze, his fur fluffed up as he scented the air for a change in weather. He hoped it wouldn't rain. Rain would only add to the depressed state he was already in...

The warmth of the sun could only do so much compared to the cool breeze that ruffled her neatly groomed fur, disturbing the fine resting hairs that at one time lay flat on her back. Still walking forward she stopped her head tilted slightly to the side, staring quizzically at the twoleg nest built so high into the sky. Shaking her head she turned around, scolding herself lightly for straying from her hunting duties.
Opening her mouth she welcomed the scent of a thrush into her scent glands and began creeping forward, intent on not giving her position away until she was within striking distance of the creature. The rustle of wings told her that it was toward an oak tree a few fox tails away. Emerald gaze traced the silloute of the bird to its actual body, the warm heart beat normal to her sensitive ears.
Tail held straight out behind her she crept slowly forward then paused as the birds head turned suddenly, sensing something. LIlywhisker kept still for ages it seemed like before the bird finally let its guard down, then being her oppurtunity. Leaping forward in a great bound she pinned the bird down and killed it with a quick blow to the head, a painless death to suffer in her eyes.
Finished killing it she picked it up and dug out another shalllow hole, just like the first one then placed it in and began scraping dirt over it. It was then that the wind switched direction and a new scent flooded into her nostrils, flaring them once more she recognized the scent of one of her clanmates, Wolfhowl. Head cocked to the side she started toward the scent following the trail then pausing at the crunch of leaves against the forest floor.
Smiling she dropped to a low crouch, making sure that she was upwind of him she started to inch forward, very slowly so that no sound was made. Expertly she snuck up behind him, watching his figure through the bushes, her coat camofloughed into the bushes and undergrowth. Pulling her legs under her she prepared herself, muscles flexing beneath her petite bodice, then without warning hurled herself into the air toward his body, claws outstretched as they reached around for some fur to grab ahold of.

Wolfhowl stared up into the rafters of the Twolegs' nest, but before he had a chance to study it he heard the gently swish of air behind him and he turned just in time ot see Lilywhisker hurtling at him. He let her bowl him over, not really caring to put up a fight. He grunted as her weight crashed into his side and caused him to fall among the leaves. Digging his claws into the turf, he steadied himself and got to his paws, shaking off his ruffled pelt.
"You're very good at stalking." He murmured in an indifferent way, as if he were bored. Wolfhowl stared up at the Twoleg's nest again, then dropped his gaze to the bushes around him. He hadn't caught much prey yet, just a shrew near the lake and two mice near the border with ShadowClan. He knew he should be working harder, but his thoughts were clouded today. He turned his attentions back to Lilywhisker, amused slightly by her kit-like antics, though it didn't register in his expression. Not even in his blue eyes gaze away a single thought that echoed through his mind.

.x.L I L Y W H I S K E R.x. Excitement flooded through her as she realized that she had caught the Thunderclan warrior off guard but a wave of regret soon followed. Bowling him over she quickly realized that the warrior had not even cared, and had seemed to have let her push him around.
No fun for someone who took joy in completing things because she did them right, not just because someone helped her out. A flicker of anger raced through her veins but was shortened as he picked himself back up. Pulling her feet under her she pushed herself up again, steadying her small frame and standing beside him.
"You're very good at stalking."
Bored vocals echoed in her ears as they turned toward him, usually a crimson color would quickly fill her cheeks if a tom offered this sort of complement but this time. Ignoring him for the time being her clear green eyes followed his gaze to look up among the raftors, his puzzlement seeming to match her very own. As he turned back around she expected him to say something else but instead he didn't, only gazing dully at the clearing around them.
Searching his eyes for an emotion, anything, to go off of she found his gaze heavily guarded and shrugged her shoulders. She wasn't used to him giving her the cold shoulder, they had been apprentences together, and friends, or used to be. Upon becomming warriors they had drifted apart, and he rarely ever spoke to her without need be.
"It was just a joke Wolfhowl"
Turning her back on him she started to pad off, slowly, back into the brush then thought better and stopped. Tail flipped back and forth nervously, though she couldn't figure out why. Craning her head back around her eyes sparkled as they gazed at him,
"Whats been up with you lately? You never talk to me anymore...And you always seem to be by yourself..."
Speaking simply she didn't mean to offend him and hoped that she wouldn't. All she wanted was to know what was troubling him, and if, possible, she could help so that he was no longer walking around all sad like anymore. It pained her to see any of her clanmates in pain, or depression and she would do anything to help any of them in there time of need. But often it would depend on if the feline wanted help or not to if she should be even sticking her nose in their business. [/blockquote]

Many of his Clanmates knew the tale. The story of how his sister, his dear sister, had fallen in love with an apprentice from another Clan, and when he was banished for his act of defiance to the warrior code, how she had rejected even her brother. Those moons without his sister had hurt him inside. Then... then there was that day. He remembered standing before his sister, his spine fur prickling as he glared at her. 'What's your problem?' He had demanded. Moonpaw had spat at him. 'It's your fault! You told them about me and Sparrowpaw! And you know what, Wolfpaw? I hate you!' She yowled. Her words had cut deep. During the rouge attack that followed their quarrel, she had fought wildly, with the fury of a thousand warriors. But when she had come face to face with the apprentice Sparrowpaw, who she had loved, her will broke down and she let him tear out her throat and heart with one blow, not even lifting a paw to defend herself. Wolfhowl had been made a warrior by her bloodied side, after the battle had ended with him slaughtering Sparrowpaw mercilessly. Now, Wolfhowl knew the past must be in the past, but his sister's loss and her last words to him had left a chasm where his heart had been. He turned his pale blue gaze to Lilywhisker and tried to smile, for her sake. It felt so strange to him. He had not smiled for so long.
"I suppose I have been rather neglecting lately, haven't I? It's just... sometimes when you live a past you regret, it comes back to bite you in the tail, you know?" He asked, looking up at the tops of the trees. He wondered if Moonpaw was up there, with StarClan. If she was, he hoped that she had found it in her heart to forgive him, there at the last. If only she could tell me so. If only. Then I should be happy again. He thought mournfully.

.x.L I L Y W H I S K E R.x.
As his almost transparent blue gaze met hers an icy chill spread to the deepest crevaces in Lilywhisker's petite body. The pain that was captivating her at this moment was truely something that she had never experienced, and certainly didn't want to any time soon.
Hurt and depression flickered in the shallow depth of his pupils and the smile that he attempted to perform was terrible for her too see. Closing her eyes as he spoke she stepped forwards, watching as he sort of zoned out for a minute or too then was brought back to earth again.
"I suppose I have been rather neglecting lately, haven't I? It's just... sometimes when you live a past you regret, it comes back to bite you in the tail, you know?"
Opening her mouth she was about to reply but thinking more about the question she stopped suddenly. Confusion dappled at the outside of her brain, the deeper part of it wondering more about what exactly he was trying to ask, and even if he would want her to answer. Why of course he wanted her to answer, why wouldn't he?
"Well..."
She started dryly, her voice fading off a little bit toward the end of only one word that she had managed to release from her vocals. Taking a few steps toward him she could only take her face and rub it against his cheek in a comforting motion, not having words, but soon they came and for this she was glad.
"No. I don't know exactly what you mean and I'm not one to say that I understand if I don't. I do, however, want you to know that I care about you...-"
Stumbling over the words she realized what she had mistakingly mentioned then took a detour,
"-As a friend and that I'm here for you if you want to talk, or goof off"
Trying a meek laugh she gently cuffed him over the ear, the close feeling that she had come so near to encounting fading as she laughed it off nervously. Stepping back she shook herself looking up as that stupid bird decided to start its loud, annoying call once again.
Rolling her eyes at it she started back toward the forest, completly ignoring the house now, she didn't care to go explore it today. If Wolfhowl came along she would only feel stupid if she squealed like a kit and got scared in front of him. How embarrising would that be?
Maybe not though turning once agan, as if she couldn't make up her mind she gave in a sort of grin that apprentences would give to eachother upon stumbling on something that would alert excitement in both of them,
"Well...um...do you want to go check it out?"
She asked inquisitively, half wanting him to come, half not. If he didn't want to though she would most likely take it as a sign that she shouldn't go either. But if he did...well at least she would feel a tad bit more safe with him by her side. It would be sort of like the old days, when neither of them had a care in the world accept to take care of themselves and that was all.

Wolfhowl watched Lilywhisker as she seemed to be thinking and trying to speak at the same time. He blinked and listened, waiting for her reply, which was apparently coming. When she instead stepped forward and brushed his muzzle gently with her own, spikes of shock caused the fur on his spine to stand up straight. He felt her touch like a warm flicker of hope, and as her voice trilled in his ears he felt her presence -someone's presenece - for the first time in a long time. Perhaps it really didn't matter if Moonpaw couldn't tell him she forgave him. Perhaps he needed to only believe that she was up there with StarClan, and that she had let go of her hatred for him. I needn't go through life thinking a mircale will happen. I need only believe that the miracle could happen, and that whether it does or doesn't the outcome will be the same. Wolfhowl smiled slightly, this time more warmly and effortlessly, though it did feel strange. He had forgotten how soothing Lilywhisker's presence was in his time of rapture. When she began to walk off, after comforting him yet again with promise of her support, he couldn't help but feel a pang of dissapointment. When her attention was diswayed from whatever errand she was prepared to go on, he felt his spirits rising higher than they had in moons.
"Sure." He meowed, trying to hide the touch of eagerness that he felt in his chest. He stepped up to her side and looked up at the Twoleg nest, trying not to look anything but normal. Whatever normal was, anyway. Wolfhowl plastered his look of boredom on his face, though now he couldn't, with all his willpower, hide the sparkle in his eye when he thought of another adventure with his best friend, like the good old days.

.x.L I L Y W H I S K E R.x. Feeling the warmth spread far into her body her smile came warmly, as she noticed that his came slowly, but surely. As he stood by her side she felt safe, and sure of herself, looking at the very large twoleg nest in front of them both, awaiting their exploration.
The emotions that continued to overwhelm her at this moment were unbelievable, something that she would probably never have words to explain. Her body became inflamed as his simple reply was spoken,
"Sure
Turning to him she brushed her pelt against his then took off at a jog toward the house,
"Then come on then slowpoke"
She laughed unexpectedly to him and she neared the front part of the house, the faint odor of twolegs still lingering about he area, along with the fresh scent of some of the twoleg kits that often played here.
"You go first"
Speaking in a whisper she looked at him hiding the narrow glimpse of fear that sparked in the corner of her eyes. A chilly breeze ruffled her pelt and she licked her chest nervously, smoothing the fur their. It was complete silence accept for that stupid, stupid bird that kept chirping overheard.

Wolfhowl stiffened slightly as she brushed past him. The feel of her fur so gently touching his own made his claws tingle and his fur stand on end. He stood still, watching her a moment longer, then with a slight smirk he padded after her. In a few long strides he reached her side, his pelt rippling as he paused to look up into the rafters through the hole they were going to go in through. He heard Lilywhisker's whisper and turned to her, seeing a sparkle of fear in her eyes. He was tempted to brush his tail against her flank in an effort to comfort her, but instead he merely dipped his head and slipped into the hole. Darkness engulfed him as soon as he emerged into the nest, and at once the rank scent of mice hit his nostrils and made him wrinkle his nose. He pricked his ears and listened to the moaning of the wind through the slits in the cieling of the strange den. He turned to look back through the gap, which emitted a beam of light that reflected the dust particles within its path.
"Ok, now come on in fraidy-cat." He meowed teasingly, surprised at once by his own tone. He felt the planks of wood beneath his paws shifting and he could hear them creek as he stepped farther into the nest, his blue eyes flashing and lighting up as they stared up into the farthest reaches of the den's higher levels.

Flesh tightened in a reflex of fear as Lilywhiskers pupils slowly adjusted ot the lighting in the dark nest, only a hint of fear hanging on the tips of her whiskers as they shook. As he walked past her she had hopes that he would make some sort of a comforting motion, but that dream was short lived.
Shaking herself as he walked forward she took a step reluctantly backwards, startling herself as she caused the old wood to creak beneath her paws. Searching for him she attempted to not look so worried, after all she was the one who liked to have fun...right? so why was she getting all worked up?
"Ok, now come on in fraidy-cat."
Relief washed over her figure as he spoke comming back into the light so that she could see him, her emerald eyes flashed with curiosity. Laughing loosely she caught his eye, responding with a flick of her tail,
"Okay, okay"
Smiling she padded into the nest, her scent glands greeted with a great variety of smells. Involving a more fierce scent of the twolegs, and their kits, underneath some other things. Such as rats, birds, and an owl, which was not unsual for a place infested with so many different types of rodents and other small creatures.
Brushing up beside him she paused for a moment, looking at him then seeing a burst of light up ahead she started off, walking deeper into the nest. Looking to where the light was comming from it looked like a hole in the nest and she tilted her head to the side in bewilderment. Seeing something that looked sort of like a tree branch, only wider she steadied herself then lept up on it.
Regaining her balance she began to walk toward the hole but was greeted by something solid. Bumping her head she shook it then placed a paw up in the hole, and sure enough she couldn't place her paw through.
"How wierd is this Wolfhowl?..."
Speaking rhetorically of course she didn't expect an answer but just sort of blurted it out, while thinking. Still trying to discover a way out through the hole she found that every corner was sealed off my something that seemed not to exist, but that surely did because she couldn't get through it. She had never seen anything like it in all of her life, and certainly was wondering just what it was. [/blockquote][/color]

The musty odors that surrounded the tom pricked at his curiousity, causing his eyes to rove about in all directions, studying each crack and beam. He turned at the sound of Lilywhisker's voice, and he smirked as he watched her emerge into the den. As she came up alongside him his fur tingled, and he looked quickly away. He soon found her gaze was on something else, and he looked up with her to see the strange gap in the trunks of the strange horizontal trees. He pricked his ears and stared at the strange sight. The hole did not let sunlight in as normal holes would, and there was a faded effect to all the things visible through it. As Lilywhisker leapt up to investigate Wolfhowl followed, his longs legs carrying him easily to the beam where Lilywhisker sat. He could see her placing her paw on it, and trying to find the way out. He blinked and stared up at some strange little branch-like things.
"Really wierd. I wonder what these things are for?" He asked, trying to hook it with his claw. When he finally got a grip on it he pulled downward, but the latch was old and wouldn't move. He sighed in frustration and got up on his hindpaws, placing his forepaws on the window. He gripped the branch in his teeth and pulled downward, feeling it begin to slowly come down towards him...

Watching as Wolfhowl lept up beisde her she stepped back as he began to prod at the thing. Trying different angles until finally it began to sort of give, comming toward him her eyes flashed and she stepped backwards.
"Be careful"
She said softly not wanting him to get hurt, her head snapped back at the shuffle of small feet against the earth. The strong, scent of rats, yes rats popped into her brain pan and she strode toward him again,
"Maybe we should get out of here...
She meowed trying to be brave and not wanting to sound panicked.

OOC: Hey, it's cool. Your posts are always much longer than mine anyway ;D
BIC: Wolfhowl could also feel the strange thing coming towards him. He grunted as the weight suddenly fell upon his forepaws. He dug his claws into the wood, trying to get a better grip. He realized something instantly: if he moved, the thing would follow in an instant. Oh foxdung. I've gotten myself into quite a mess. He thought gravely. He could hear the squeaking of rats and Lilywhisker speaking behind him, and he cast a quick glance over his shoulder before pressing all of his wieght against the strange Twoleg thing, hoping it would click back to what it was before. When he had pushed it back up against the wood, trembling with the effort, he pulled at the latch with his teeth. Finally it clicked and the weight was removed. Wolfhowl leapt down beside Lilywhisker and smiled.
"Sure, let's go." He meowed, trying not to sound too eager to be gone from this place.

Sensing the urgency in his movements Lilywhisker looked at Wolfhowl with a look of regret, silently scolding herself for continueing inside the twoleg nest and asking him to come along. Licking her lips nervously she lept down pacing back and forth to calm herself, never had she been this irate before.
Silky tail formed circles behind her back as she attempted to relieve some of the stress that had been so firmly placed upon her fluffy shoulders.Emerald gaze trapsed up to his figure again, as he was still struggling with the twoleg thing that was pushing him.
Finally Lilywhisker heard a click as the thing fell back into place and relief washed over her physique at this. The worry that she had been feeling earlier subsided quickly as he lept down, her ears flipping forward so that she could catch the words that he spoke as he lept down to join her on the ground, finally.
"Sure, let's go."
For a moment she considered brushing up beside him but cut the idea short and decided not too altogether. Walking out into the sunshine she took a moment to close her eyes, the sun bathing her in its warmth and the feeling returning to the far ends of her toes.
The sound of feet shuffling came again and her head snapped backwards in time to see multiple dark creatures filling along beside the wall. The feriousious growl of rats filled her ears, their putrid smell surrounding her instantly,
"Wolfhowl..."
Calling to him softly she fell back on her haunches, the brave she-cat that she had been earlier seeming to disappear at this new threat. The rats were swarming behind the walls, she could feel it, as well as smell it and the beady eyes that poked out of the holes bore into her heart.
